This week’s “Scandal” begins with an irresponsible 27 year old boy, Travis Harding, the rich son of millionaire Sandra Harding being charged with rape. Sandra solicits Olivia to be a back up attorney in the case for her son, so Olivia goes to work trying to get some dirt on the prosecutor, David, but doesn’t have much luck.
Helen Fisher, a supposed very good person but heavily in debt, is the victim. Olivia tells Sandra she thinks they should settle the case to keep Helen from being a witness against her son. They offer 9 million but it is turned down. Quinn is concerned that they will lose the case, but Olivia reminds them there is another way.
The plot thickens as Travis is found to have paid off another victim in the past, a 23 year old named Rachel, who committed suicide. There was a rape kit in the case that has Travis’ DNA all over it. Interestingly, her body was found by her best friend, Helen Fisher, his new rape victim.
Travis tells his mother he did make a mistake, but says he handled it. Travis’ attorney gets the best of Helen in the courtroom. Travis is going to get by with yet another rape as Olivia consoles Sandra, a mother that blames herself for her son’s indiscretions.
Meanwhile, Olivia cuts a deal with a reporter offering background information on Amanda Tanner to keep her name out of the paper. Amanda lets Olivia know she is aware of her relationship with the president and wants to meet with Fitz. Olivia tells Cyrus that the meeting will make the problem go away forever.
Although initially agreeing to the meeting between Fitz and Amanda, he changed his mind after receiving a tape that included a love making audio of the president and a White House aide. Cyrus thinks Amanda and Olivia are blackmailing them.
The First Lady, Mellie, lets her husband sleep late due to his insomnia lately. She later invites Olivia to a dinner where Billy Chambers begins to flirt with Olivia. However, Mellie takes him away leaving the president in need of someone to dance with.
Fitz keeps telling Olivia he loves her and tries to convince her to meet him. Cyrus makes sure that does not happen as he openly accuses Olivia of blackmail, catching her off guard. Cyrus tells the president that Olivia is the one that cancelled the Amanda Tanner meeting, and Mellie lets her husband know that she invited Olivia to dinner because he needed to see her in order to be able to sleep.
After the new revelations at the White House, Olivia pays a visit to Sandra Harding letting her know that she needs her son to take responsibility for his actions, which he is not willing to do. His mother takes the initiative and Travis is placed under arrest for Rachel’s rape.
Amanda says that Gideon called her so Quinn decides to try to find out what he knows by flirting with him, but he is on to Quinn’s game. Olivia offers him a deal by setting up an interview with Sandra Harding. Olivia is shocked to find out that Amanda is pregnant.
There is more “Scandal” on ABC Thursday nights at 10/9c. Tune is for more excitement.
