The CW has new program offerings for its viewers, starting May 29, 2012. ‘The Catalina’ will be airing at 8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 29th as a new series.
‘The Catalina’ will follow the staff of hotel The Catalina in South Beach, Miami. The staff is young, with a desire to party all night, and the obligation of working all day. The series is to be produced by Eric Bischoff and Jason Hervey. They also produced “Confessions of a Teen Idol” and “Impact Wrestling”.
On May 31, 2012, the CW will be airing ‘Breaking Pointe’. This is a non-scripted reality show that documents the events surrounding the Ballet West ballet company in Salt Lake City. The series is to show the brutal world of competition in ballet form. It is to be produced by Kate Shephard, executive producer for “Wife Swap” and “Big Brother”, and Izzie Pick Ashcroft, executive producer for “Dancing With The Stars” and Jane Tranter, executive producer of “Torchwood”, “Top Gear” and “Dancing With The Stars”.
CW also has other shows in the works. However, the network has yet to give any premier dates. CW has two additional reality shows slated for airing. One is ‘Oh Sit!’, a live game show where the contestants are playing musical chairs, and the ‘The Star Next Door’, a musical competition.
CW will also be airing ‘L.A. Complex’, a Canadian soap opera. It will be airing on Tuesday, April 24th, at 9:00 pm. The show stars Cassie Steele of Degrassi and Jewel Staite of Firefly. The show also stars Andra Fuller, Jonathan Patrick Moore, Chelan Simmons, Joe Dinicol and Benjamin Charles Watson. The show will be produced by Stephen Stohn, Linda Schuyler and Mertin Gero.
‘LA Complex’ follows a group of twenty-plus year olds that are trying to make it in the entertainment business. The show is based in LA, with the characters living in the same hotel, called the Deluxe Suites. The hotel is set up like apartments. As the group strives to better their situations and realize their dreams, they come to the conclusion that it is not as easy as it all appears.
Recent reports from the show say that Alan Thicke, former Dad on the 80s hit series “Growing Pains” will star on ‘LA Complex’ for four episodes. There is not a lot of information, at the moment, about Thicke’s role on the show. The shows writers would only say that his character’s name is Donald.
These shows fall in line with the other reality shows CW has been using to beef up its programming. These shows, combined with other already -aired programs are adding up for an exciting lineup.
The show is slated for 13 episodes, currently, for its first season.
On top of the new shows, CW will continue with long-running favorite among viewers, like ‘America’s Top Model’ with Tyra Banks. There is a lot to choose from in the coming season on CW. Fans have scripted and unscripted reality shows to choose from.
