Ariel Winter Workman was born on January 28th, 1998. She was born in Fairfax, Virginia. Her parents are Glenn Workman and Chrisoula "Chrystal" (née Batistas), who is Greek, thus making Ariel half Greek. Shanelle Workman and Jimmy Workman are her siblings, and they are also actors. She is known for a lot of things in Hollywood, among which is a singer, actress, model, and voice actress.
She was only six years old when she appeared in her first television role, in a commercial for Cool Whip. A year later, when Ariel was seven, she made an appearance in the sitcom called Listen Up! on CBS. After this Ariel's career as an actress continued to progress. Next she was able to get an acting seat on shows like Bones, as Liza, Ghost Whisperer, as Natalie, Freddie, as Hobo, Nip/Tuck, ER, as Lucy Moore, Criminal Minds, Crossing Jordan, as Gwen, Tickle U, and Monk, as Donna Cain. Aside from this she has also done voice work in such productions as Curious George, Ice Age: Meltdown, as various characters, Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Marina the Mermaid, Bambi 2, as Thumper's sister, and perhaps most notably Gretchen—and various other characters--from Phineas and Ferb. Ariel Winter has even appeared on featured films like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Fred 2, Duress, Speed Racer, and The Chaperone. She has even made appearances in the video games Final Fantasy XIII-2, as Mog, Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, as Moglin, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, as Young Kairi, and Guild Wars 2, as Cassie.
She has won numerous awards, among them are four consecutive awards (as well as many members of the cast on the show) for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series on Modern Family. In 2010 and 2011 she won Outstanding Young Ensemble in a TV Series for her part in Modern Family. Because of her part in The Chaperone Ariel Winter received a nomination from Young Artist Awards 2012 for Best Actress in a Motion Picture.
One of the shows in which Ariel Winter is best known for starring in is ABC's Modern Family. The show is a mockumentary which premiered on September 23rd, 2009. Initially the series was going to be called My American Family but it was later changed to its currently-known title. The series revolves around the Pritchett family, specifically Jay Pritchett, his second wife, infant son and stepson, and his two adult children and their families. The series has become quite successful and popular. Ariel Winter plays the role of Alex, the nerdy and intelligent middle child of Claire and Phil Dunphy.
According to Ariel she has a lot in common with the character she plays on the TV show. She says that the likes that they are both interested in learning and being intelligent, making the claim that it is alright for girls and women to be smart. She also says that neither of them are as focused on boys or their appearance as many other stereotypical teenage girls. According to Ariel, the primary difference between she and Alex on Modern Family is just their sense of style. Whereas Alex dresses like a “tomboy,” Ariel says she is more “girly-edgy.”
A few things have been talked about a lot in regards to Ariel Winter, one of which is Ariel's allegations of abuse at home that eventually lead to her leaving home and moving in with siblings. At only 14, three years ago, this event occurred, on October 3rd. It was said that Ariel was abused verbally and physically, and even that she was deprived of food and “sexualized” as a minor. Ariel's mother has said that the allegations are not at all true, and that all of it was retaliation. According to Christal Workman, Ariel's mother, Ariel had gotten into trouble for being in bed with her 18-year-old boyfriend. It is said that her mother caught them and was doing her best to protect Ariel from being involved in statutory rape.
These allegations about Ariel, at 14, and her 18-year-old boyfriend, were put into serious question for one primary reason. Ariel's mother, Crystal Workman, had not filed a police report about the matter until after Ariel had actually been removed from her mother's care and placed in her sister's custody. This had made police and those involved in the case considerably doubt that there was even an illicit sexual relationship between Ariel and her boyfriend at all.
Ariel had claimed that she didn't know her sister very well growing up and wasn't given a lot of chances to visit with her. When her sister, Shanelle Gray, took Ariel into her home, it gave them the opportunity to change that and become close. Ariel thinks highly of her sister and says she aspires to be like her. Another important point about the transition from her mother's house to her sister's were the insecurities which Ariel battled. She says that her mother often made her feel poorly about her image, particularly weight, but Shanelle makes it a point to let her know she is beautiful. Ariel has also been given a chance at a more normal life, which is what she says she wants. With her sister Ariel must abide by curfews and babysitting.
Another noteworthy even which happened only this year was Ariel's breast reduction surgery. She says that it seemed like the development of her breasts happened overnight, and by the time she was 15 she was already wearing F bra cups. The pain affected her both emotionally and physically, especially when trying to find clothes and bras which would fit, or standing up for long periods of time. In June of this year, 2015, Ariel Winter underwent surgery to go from a size 32 F to a size 34 D. It is not unheard of for women to get breast reductions in Ariel's family and the decision, she says, was life changing for the better. She also wanted to make it clear that the choice to get surgery had nothing to do with outside opinions or bullies, but was her own decision.
