Broadband internet standards and research

Important broadband standards organizations
A number of standards organizations have helped to shape the technical specifications for broadband (wired and wireless) internet around the world. These organizations include the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) as well as the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
IEEE is a professional association that develops standards for a vast number of technologies, including telecom, computer science and electrical engineering. Specifically, within IEEE, the 802.11 Working Group is responsible for developing standards for wireless networking including those related to broadband internet.
The International Telecommunication Union is a United Nations agency that whose members create and maintain technical standards for different facets of telecom including those related to broadband.
ISO is an international organization that develops and publishes standards for a wide range of industries. Within ISO, the ISO/IEC Joint Technical Committee is responsible for standardization related to information and communication technologies such as broadband internet.
Together these organizations play a critical role in the development and evolution of broadband internet standards and their work helps to ensure that broadband internet systems are interoperable and can work effectively across different networks and devices.
As you can see, these organizations have been tremendously successful. In less than a generation the available data transmission rates of home wired broadband internet connections have increased dramatically.

Additional broadband standards organizations and publications
In addition to the standards work done by the IEEE, ITU and ISO groups, significant contributions are also done by other independent researchers and scientists. Many of these research papers are organized by Ubiquitous Computing and Communication (UBICC). UBICC is a non-profit research organization that has been at the forefront of technological excellence since 2006. Their journal, the Ubiquitous Computing and Communication Journal, is a peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes research on the topic of computing and telecommunications.
The Ubiquitous Computing and Communication Journal publishes research on a wide range of topics related to broadband internet, including the design and implementation of broadband internet systems, the development of algorithms and protocols for communication between devices over broadband networks and the social and economic implications of broadband internet access.
Below is a summary of UBICC Journal publications.
